Thank you, Morgan, for having me here today. I love the layout of your blog. So, what do you do when, on a lark, you’re moved by ennui to write a book just because you kinda sorta think you can? Let’s not mention its being a slightly naughty book at that.
Well, you go with it just to see where it leads, of course!
That’s what I did with the while coming off of the high I’d wafted onto after being introduced to Indie publishing. I now had an outlet for my writing fetish! I was feeling a bit snarky too after learning about a number of Indie authors who had made the big time with their first books. Well, I was game (and still am), so I jumped into the pool rather then testing the waters with one toe. You’ll not have guessed, but I wanted to write something a bit naughty. I find a well written book which is also spicy is the cake with a healthy slathering of frosting. So I set to work.
And, work it has been from the onset. But, to be cliché, also a labor of love. This book has been a learning tool on a curve that is rather steep. I grok with my muse, quite well though as a result. The muse is actually a husband and wife team in my head. I just wonder when they’ll let me write their backstory. So I set to writing. Being fond of vampires, I also wanted to in clude them, of a sort. You’ll meet my vampires in the second book. I think the favorite part of the story for me is the sex on horseback scene.
You’ll see, when you read the book, I wasn’t stingy with sex scenes. However, I wanted the sexual nature of the people to be an intrinsic part of their culture and not tainted with the moral and ethical elements so necessary to our human culture. I didn’t want to make the book about sex scenes either, but rather part of a story that begs to be written. I also enjoyed toying with the idea that the elemental elements of their environment contributes to all aspects of their existence as does water and air to ours. I wanted characters who are familiar and comfortable yet different from the people we meet in our societies, institutions and governments on a daily basis.
There’s also the equivalent of teen angst dolloped in there for good measure. All of the characters are of the age of majority at the time they are included in a sex scene, but there is teen angst anyway. Humor that is kind of off kilter and a bit akimbo peppers the whole thing. Book two is in the works, simmering gently on the back burner as I work towards finish on a work under another moniker.
Well, I guess it’s time to pull on the reigns for this bit. Thank you all for stopping in and be sure to enter the giveaway.
